New Dive Stuff

Well, we got some new dive pics finally. And they are beautiful. Some of them were from a dive Dan and I did, some are from a dive he did alone. I had the flu, yuck. Not a good thing to dive with at any time. So, I got to stay home and I get to see the pics as he gives them to me. These are from late October or early November 1999.

Caity's Page

I love this one. This is a picture of a Trigger fish. There were masses of these fish at Belcher Barge. You could hear them when they pecked at the coral, it sounded like something was crackling.

The funnel on the right is one of the things that really amazed me. For some reason they just fascinate me. I have seen them so small that they are the size of my pinky, and so large that I could sit in one and have room around me.

This is a Butterfly fish and there seemed to be one no matter where you looked. When we dove the reef you could see these little guys at just about every turn. I loved the yellow on the beak. They are so unpretentious.

For some reason though (and yes, I am giving the fish a human characteristic) this fish reminds me of a little kid at school, the one everyone overlooks, but the one that is the most curious of them all.

Please sign my Guest Book, I like to know who's been here and what you think.

Here's one titled "Tranquil." It fits.

Thoughts On This World

Sometimes it is hard for me to understand the human race. And when I go down to the bottom of the ocean, I get even more confused about them.

I have lived with nature as a part of my life since I could toddle out of the house on my own. I have lived in the woods, explored caves, watched a sunset from the desert and a sunrise over the ocean, and I still can't understand how people can go through life with blinders and not see the beauty around them. Worse yet, I can't see how they can abuse this wonderful world.

I am not saying I am any less guilty than anyone else, but as I have grown older I have learned to appreciate the simpler things in my life. Watching the sun come up doesn't cost a dime -- or a cent. Just some time out of my life. Time I could be spending at a job I hate, or stuck in the never-ending traffic jams that seem so prevalent in south Florida, or wading my way through a crowded mall filled with people that have never seen the serenity that exists at the bottom of 70 feet of ocean.

Here's Dan at our last dive. We had just come up from Belcher Barge and we were heading for the reef. I'm just glad he didn't get a picture of me, I would have broken the camera. I'm pretty scary with the aftereffects of saltwater hair!
